The Academic Council of Auezov University, as an elected representative body, carries out the general management of the university, is one of the forms of collegial management of a higher educational institution.

The Academic Council, as the governing body of the university, has a student representation.

In its activities, the Academic Council is guided by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the charter of the Auezov University, as well as the standard rules for the activities of the Academic Council of a higher educational institution (Order of the Acting Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 22, 2007 No. 574).

Meetings of the Academic Council are held at least once a month in accordance with the approved work plan for the corresponding academic year.

The objectives of the Academic Council are the development of priorities and principles for the development of the university, the creation of a legislative mechanism for the high-quality training of graduates, the preservation and increase of material resources and the qualifications of employees, the effective operation of the team.

The competence of the Academic Council includes:

• approval of the structure of the university;
• introduction of amendments and additions to the Charter of the University;
• creation, reorganization and liquidation of educational and scientific departments of the university (laboratories, departments, faculties (institutes) and others);
• definition of the university development concept;
• making decisions on all fundamental issues of organization of educational, research and economic activities of the university;
• listening to the annual reports of the rector, vice-rectors, heads of structural divisions and on the forms and methods of conducting educational, research, educational, financial, economic, informational and international activities;
• consideration and recommendation for the publication of textbooks, teaching aids and educational and methodological developments;
• making a decision on the transfer of students from a paid department to an educational grant and to study in the form of an external student;
• Approval of topics and supervisors - consultants for undergraduates and doctoral PhD students on dissertation research;
• organization of control over the financial and economic activities of the university;
• determination of the procedure for the use of extrabudgetary funds, as well as areas for reinvestment of income received by the university through the provision of paid educational services and the sale of manufactured products;
• approval and awarding of scientists and honorary titles, nominal scholarships and prizes;
• Consideration of questions on the presentation of university staff, creative teams for government awards and honorary titles;
• consideration of other issues of the current activities of the university, requiring a collegial decision.
